Overview

Electrical and Electronics Engineering department (EEED) was started with the inception of the college in the year 1963. The department offers graduate, research programs. It has well equipped laboratories with state-of-art equipment. The students excel in academics under the constant guidance of qualified and dedicated staff. The faculty and student development programs are regularly organized. The graduating students are well placed in industry as well as in academia through campus placements and direct recruitment. Department has specialized faculty in Power Systems, Machines, Drives and Power Electronics, Renewable Energy Sources, Signal Processing, HVDC and FACTS, Power and Energy Systems. The Department has well-established Electrical Machines, High Voltage Engineering, Power System, Microcontrollers and Power System Protection laboratories. The Software packages include AutoCAD, MATLAB, Mi-power, Windographer and Code Composer Studio. The department is rendering dedicated service to the Electrical and Electronics community. It is accredited by NBA and a recognized Research Center of Visveswaraya Technological University Belgaum. It offers, Ph.D. and M.Sc. Engg. by research. At present eight research scholars are persuing Ph.D. in the department. Over the years the department has received 150+ lakhs R&D grants and produced 16+ Ph.Ds, 75+ M.Techs and 90+ technical publications. Three new research labs in the area of Renewable Energy , SCADA and FPGA based Machine drives are established under the financial support from VGST, Govt of Karnataka and TEQIP grants of World Bank. The department is having MoUs with eight organization, under which students and faculty are excelling and working with latest projects in the area of electrical engineering.
